In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

Ryan Huebel replied:

Awesome thank you!

Sometimes, and I believe most of the time B&W adds dimension(s) in photography. On first look a viewer will see an image but if they spend the time to actually LOOK at the artwork, it opens up to reveal much more. You've accomplished just that with your photograph, Ryan. Simple, but oh so big. L/F--Peace, Max

Ryan Huebel replied:

Thank you so much for the kind words. I am of the belief that before people shoot in color they should explore all black and white has to offer first. I appreciate your sentiment. Cheers!

Artist's Description

This one was a hard decision. The back lighting in this shot made the forrest look like it was on fire due to the leaves changing. However, the lighting was too good pass up making it black and white. I love the different tones in this shot.

About Ryan Huebel

Ryan Huebel

I am currently based in San Diego, California. Photography was my college major and my passion. Everywhere I walk I am constantly looking for a potential photograph. However, since I have worked behind the scenes in the production side of the world for several years I am currently burnt out on the portrait side of things. I love the outdoors and the beauty of the natural world. Whenever it is feasibly possible, I am out in the world exploring areas away from society; whether its abandoned locations or the beauty of the world around us.
